In the Fall of 1991, a student by the name of Patrick Astafan joined Sigma Phi Epsilon at California State University, Sacramento. Unbeknownst to anyone at the time, but Patrick would have a huge impact on the lives of his fraternity brother showing them the true meanings of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.
After two years of battling leukemia, Patrick Astafan would pass on in the April of 1994.
An annual scholarship was then set up in his honor which young men at California State University, Sacramento. Applicants for the scholarship must demonstrate that they live the same ideals that Patrick did. These include Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love, as well as demonstrating the lifestyle of the Balanced Man, exhibiting academic excellence, leadership skills and a commitment to their health and well-being.
If you are interested in honoring Patricks legacy, please consider making a monetary donation to the scholarship.
